We now also offer a “Rigger Certification Class”- a 2 day class which delves much deeper into the electrical theory and trouble shooting of the Lodestar and Prostar.  The prerequisite for this class is to have successfully completed the 1 day class in the past 3 years AND work with these hoists on a regular basis.  The class cost is $295.00.  At the completion of the class a test is given.  Upon passing the exam you receive a certification card and document which is good for 5 years and is sanctioned by ETCP.  At that time you also receive 12 points towards renewal of your ETCP certification for either “Stage Rigging”, “Arena Rigging” or “Electrical”.

Upon successful completion of the certification class, the rigger should feel competent enough that when he comes across an issue with the Lodestar or Prostar in the field, to remedy the problem immediately or to determine whether the motor should be replaced and sent back to the shop for repairs.

In the past we have let people attend this class that were not qualified to be there and the failure rate was too high.  At the same time it was slowing down the attendees in the class that were qualified.
